About a month ago to the day an awesome sale was held at my parents house to fund raise for baby #2. Despite an all out torrential downpour on Thursday, the sun crept out Friday and then blazed on Saturday bringing an amazing closing tally to the weekend! Thanks to tireless work by sooo many including my mom and dad, sisters, Dana and Kelly, Molly, Chelsea, Sarah, and several others we were blessed beyond belief with a total of about $2000!! I'm pretty sure word got out pretty quick about my moms scones and that's why we got so many people to the sale. Some even came back more than once to shop!! God is so so good and people were more than generous to share their donations with us! We had such a fun time (or maybe we are just plain crazy) that we brought a lot of the leftovers to our house the next Friday and had a one-day-only sale raising another $400!! It is so freeing getting rid o stuff!! A BIG THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! Our love tank is full!
SOOOOO...exciting news around here in just the last two days! We are MUCH closer to a referral than we once thought. We were planning on next year, hoping for Spring but it seems that we will be matched by the end of Aug/early Sep!! WHAT??!! There is a story behind this, but we aren't really puttin it all out there in blog land. BUT, God is so amazing! He truly does know what child is meant to be a Hicks. He will move mountains to bring us to them. We stand in awe. On cloud nine? ABSOLUTELY!! However, this does mean that we need to come up with a LARGE amount of money by then, so on to the next fundraiser!
We have purchased a beautiful 550 piece jigsaw puzzle. Here is a pic:
BEAUTIFUL right?!! So, we have a goal to sell every single piece of this puzzle. Here's how it works: Each piece is $10. You may purchase as many pieces as you would like and when you do we will write your name on the back of those pieces. In the end, we will frame this masterpiece in clear glass. Won't it be awesome to be reminded of all the love that brought or next little one home every time we turn it over?! There are several ways to buy a piece. You can use the paypal link on the right of the blog. You can send your donation directly to Doug and I. Or, you can also send your donation to Adoption Ministry of YWAM as a tax deductible donation to the Hicks adoption. (Just make sure you don't write our names anywhere on the check). The only thing that is REALLY important is that no matter how you choose to buy the pieces, please email me at jryanhicks@gmail.com and tell me how many pieces you are purchasing so I can write you names on them!!
